The release of GPT-5 might be on the horizon

It appears that OpenAI is right on track maintaining its release schedules, and so we anticipate the debut of GPT-5 in the upcoming months.

“Materially Better” Than GPT-4

I’m not trying to dampen the mood, but I’d also like to keep my enthusiasm in check. As a software developer that used extensively GPT 3, 3.5 and 4 I’ve had mixed feelings, extraordinary results or downright bad experience with Chat. Yes, I name it that way.

So back to the demo, where GPT-5 is receiving praise, being regarded as a substantial improvement over its predecessor.

Overall the challenge with many AI systems is that their demo can be misleading. I don’t want to say it’s faked, but the concept of “improvement” often varies greatly depending on specific needs. Improvement can mean a better dialogue with the interface, or better logic about the trained data, improvement is also adding compatibility with home devices or various existing platforms.

The excitement regarding new AI innovations can sometimes be exaggerated. Because while announcements about upcoming models are informative, their true value are unclear until we understand the tangible enhancements they offer, and making such announcements is primarily beneficial for OpenAI’s marketing.

But then again, security and energy consumption should also be a priority, not just making it faster, smarter and tailored versions for enterprises.

I for one am waiting for the update, but will get back with a review at least a few months after testing it.
